What does Jesus mean when he tells us to love our enemies? His behavior shows that he doesn't mean that we have to adopt our enemies' values or be silent when they say things that aren't true.
The video above gives two minutes of highlights on this topic. The video below gives the complete message.
Learn from Jesus. Love without reservation.
Jesus encourages us to love our enemies and bless those who curse us. (See Luke 6:27-36.) What does that look like?
As we watch Jesus' behavior, we discover that loving our enemies doesn't mean that we have to adopt our enemies' values. Jesus didn't. (See Luke 6:6-11 and Luke 19:37-40 as two examples.)
Similarly, loving our enemies does not mean that we have to stay silent when they say things that aren't true, or that we have to do what they say. Jesus didn't do these things, either.
Loving our enemies does not mean giving in to their bad behavior.
What are some ways you could love your enemies?
God, help us to love like you love and to forgive like you forgive. Thank you. We praise you! Amen.
The video below encourages you to love your enemies like Jesus loved his.
